The VW Concept R was unveiled at the 2003 Frankfurt Auto Show. The car is a sporty 2-seater roadster with mid-engine and rear wheel drive. The VW Concept R is powered by a V6 3.2 L FSI petrol engine with a maximum output of 195 kW / 261 hp. Apparently this is strong enough to enable this sports car to reach 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds. The VW Concept R was based on the VW Golf Hatchback. The car is 4,1m long, 1,8m wide and 1,2 high. The VW Concept R is fitted with a 6 speed direct-shift transmission and has a top speed of 250 km/h which is electronically limited. This concept car has a Volkswagen logo which is generated digitally by a display and begins to pulsate in the OLED screen when the ignition is turned on by the driver. The pulse stops when the ignition is activated. The seats are not adjustable at all. The correct seating position must be found by electrically moving the polished metal information block of the instrument panel, including the steering wheel and pedal cluster back or forth in order to find the correct seating position. The VW Concept R’s seats are filled with active foam. The active foam adapts to the body shape of the driver and passenger. This is a first for sports car. In 2005 VW confirmed that they intend to build a production car derived from the VW Concept R concept car. It’s 2009, no production model based on this vehicle has been released yet, but the VW Concept Blue Sport was revealed at the 2009 North American Auto Show, which is derived from the VW Concept R.

This is a very stylish looking car. No two ways about it. I doubt that this car will ever be transformed into a production car. And should this become a production vehicle its highly unlikely that it will make it to South Africa. I will keep my fingers crossed though. In the meanwhile I’ll look around in the classifieds for a 2nd hand vehicle instead. The VW Concept R probably will not be within my price range if its released here.

The German Automaker, Volkswagen, has released pictures of the 2010 Polo 3 door. The vehicle is making its debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany in September. The VW Polo 3 door will be offered in 3 trim levels, the Trendline, the Comfortline and the Highline. All models will be fitted with front and side airbags, electronic stability control, ABS, electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist. The VW Polo 3 door will be available in 6 different variations, 4 different petrol models will be available and 2 different diesel models will be available. The engine capacities will vary between 1.2 and 1.6 litres and power outputs will vary between 44kW and 77 kW. The VW Polo 3 door also boasts Volkswagen’s new Scirocco-inspired corporate face in the front-end styling. The new VW Polo 5 door is already available in Europe (due for release in South Africa in early 2010). The VW Polo 3 door is very similar to the new VW Polo 5 door model. It’s still unsure whether Volkswagen will launch the VW Polo 3 door in South Africa next year, but it will most likely only be after the new VW Polo 5 door model is launched.

The VW Polo has become quite a popular vehicle in South Africa. It’s a possibility that many VW Polo owners will sell their vehicles via classifieds publications or other means in order to raise money to upgrade to the new VW Polo model in 2010. Whether the new VW Polo will be a success in South Africa still remains to be seen, but judging by Volkswagen’s previous successes in South Africa, it probably will be.

You might be looking for a VW for sale. This might be the car for you. The VW Eos was introduced in 2006 as a replacement to the VW Cabrio. It’s the first coupe in production by the German automaker since the VW Corrado in 1995. The name Eos is derived from the Greek goddess of dawn and wind. The VW Eos is a 2 door 4 seater retractable hardtop convertible. The VW has a 5 piece folding roof with an integrated and independently sliding glass sunroof. The roof folds automatically into the car’s trunk in 25 seconds, reducing the 10.5 cubic feet trunk to 6.6 cubic feet.

The VW Eos was introduced as a concept car labelled the Concept C in 2004 at the Geneva Auto Show in Switzerland. The car was finally introduced in 2006 in Europe, North America and Japan. In 2007 the VW Eos was introduced New Zealand, Australia and my home country, South Africa. It will be a while, in my opinion before you start seeing this vehicle being advertised in classifieds publications or on websites. Anyone who is driving one of these at the moment might not be tempted to sell it, but then again, who knows.

German Auto Manufacturer, Volkswagen, first introduced the Golf in 1974. To date there have been 6 different versions of the vehicle produced. The MK1 from 1974 – 1984, the MK2 from 1984 – 1992, the MK3 from 1991 – 1998, the MK4 from 1997 – 2006, the MK5 from 2006-2009 and The MK6 which has been released in 2009. Here are photos of all the different models:

Volkswagen is one of the top car manufacturers in the world and will continue to be for years to come. I’m sure they will continue to be for years to come. The VW Golf is one of the most popular cars in South Africa (my home country). Seeing these old vehicles makes me wonder if I should get myself a used volkswagen. Motorists and fanatics alike use various classifieds publications to buy used VW vehicles and spares.
