The Jeep Wrangler is also known as the YJ, TJ, and JK. This SUV / 4×4 is produced by American automaker Chrysler under the Jeep trademark. The Wrangler made its debut in 1987, and has also been revised in 1997 and 2007. The Wrangler continues to use live axles both front and rear. The model designations are used throughout the world in the Jeep enthusiast community to differentiate which model is being spoken of instead of using the more ambiguous term “Wrangler” and help identify specifics about Wranglers.
To me and many other South Africans, this will always be the Macgyver Jeep. The Jeep Wrangler is not really popular in South Africa. Chrysler only entered the South African motoring market after the Apartheid era ended in 1994. Since I can’t afford a new one I’m bound to find second hand vehicles like these for sale on one or other classifieds website.
